Resveratrol
Grape polyphenol in her stack, linked to heart health, lower inflammation, FOXO3/sirtuin activation, and fading age spots.
Summary
Debbie keeps resveratrol in her stack for heart health, gingivitis, and COX1/2 inhibition. Small human trials she cites showed a drop in TREM2 in Alzheimer's patients, lower PAI-1 after a year at 350 mg/day, and better arterial stiffness with higher Klotho and SOD in people with hypertension. Animal work shows neuroprotection in a Parkinson's model (strongest when combined with vitamin D) and better lung function in COPD models. She also reports a personal experiment in which topical resveratrol in DMSO completely faded a long-standing age spot.
In her stack, sometimes swapped for hesperetin or quercetin. Topical resveratrol in DMSO faded a years-old age spot for her. From My Current Supplement Stack for Longevity
The evidence
-
Human trial
In a placebo-controlled trial in mild to moderate Alzheimer's patients, oral resveratrol significantly reduced TREM2.
-
Human trial
In a randomized placebo-controlled trial, resveratrol at 350 mg/day for one year lowered PAI-1 levels.
Discussed in One Mutation, Ten Extra Years -
Human trial
In a study of 80 people with hypertension, 400 mg/day resveratrol added to usual medication improved arterial stiffness, and Klotho and SOD rose only in the resveratrol arm.

Animal
In a mouse model of Parkinson's, resveratrol or vitamin D alone partly improved motor performance and neuronal loss, and the combination gave the strongest neuroprotection.
-
Animal
A meta-analysis of 14 animal COPD studies found resveratrol improved lung function and lowered TNF-alpha, IL-8, and IL-6, with medium-to-higher doses working better.
-
Cell
In a cell study, resveratrol inhibited the TNF-alpha-induced activation of coronary arterial endothelial cells through NF-kB inhibition.

Doses used in studies
Amounts reported in the research, not dosing recommendations.
| Dose | Context |
|---|---|
| 500 mg capsule once daily, increased to twice daily after three months | Placebo-controlled trial in mild to moderate Alzheimer's (TREM2 reduction) |
| 350 mg/day for one year | Randomized placebo-controlled trial; lowered PAI-1 |
| 400 mg/day | 80 people with hypertension, on top of their usual medications |
| 150 mg/day | Small human COPD trial; little effect |
| About 1% solution (topical) | Concentration used in studies of topical resveratrol for skin |
Cautions
- High doses may be contraindicated for people on warfarin; check for medication interactions.
- A cell study found resveratrol reduces IL-1B but increases IL-11, an inflammatory cytokine linked to fibrosis.
- Her topical method used DMSO, which carries anything on the skin into the body; she does not recommend it for everyone.
